2017 Collective Grants

For the 14th consecutive year, the Giving Circle of HOPE evaluated and will award grants to nonprofits that are serving the needs of families in Northern Virginia. We are pleased to announce our grant recipients and the projects we voted to help fund in 2018:

All Ages Read Together – School Readiness Classes for At-Risk Preschool Age Children
Culmore Clinic – Diabetes Shared Medical Appointments Project: Pilot
Friends of Guest House – Workforce & Life Development Project: Rollout
La Cocina – Career Readiness & Job Placement Program
Project Mend A House – Visitor Companionship & Transportation Program
SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) – Operation Safe Babies
Western Fairfax Ministries – Pathways to Success Program Expansion

The GCH reviewed 31 grant requests and, through the power of collective giving, will award $49,000–with over $1,000,000 over its history–to further the aims of nonprofits working to improve the lives of those in our community in our two mission critical areas: Health, Mental Health & Aging and Poverty Relief.

And we did this together!

Though 2017 membership is over, it’s not too early to prepare for next year.

If a one-time $415 voting membership payment is daunting, we also offer monthly contributions via the Giving Circle of HOPE option on the Community Foundation of Northern Virginia website. The amount you specify will be charged automatically to the credit card you provide. This allows you to contribute throughout the year. It also gives us a better sense of the number of grants we will be able to support earlier in the grant review process. Before you know it, you’ll be a full voting member!
