Service Co-Coordinators Needed for Flashes of Hope Project
The Giving Circle of HOPE supports the work of the national organization Flashes of Hope. On a monthly basis, Giving Circle of HOPE’s Flashes volunteers visit Inova Children’s Hospital and the outpatient clinic run jointly by Children’s Hospital of DC and Inova to take beautiful photographs of children battling cancer and their families.
Flashes of Hope Coordinators reach out to contacts at the hospitals, our list of professional photographers, and our list of professional make up artists to set the dates of the shoots. We never have a problem coming up with a talented team! Shoots typically last about 3 hours. Paperwork is done on an iPad and is completed at the shoot. Distribution of the photos is through Flashes of Hope headquarters in Cleveland.
The shoots are always a joyful time – the kids have fun goofing around for the camera, the moms are thrilled to have a little TLC by the make up artists, and coordinators and volunteers get to watch it all and know that we are helping make very special memories! If you are interested in volunteering for Flashes or to help take the helm and become a Co-Coordinator, please email us.
Special thanks to our longtime Flashes of Hope Co-Coordinators, Tam Smith and Claire Thoms for their dedicated and inspiring service.
